PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT
MOONLIGHT GLIMMER
Photography Show at Spark Contemporary Art Space, April 27, 2017
On a relatively warm February night, I walked along a desolate strip mall hearing only the sounds of cars splashing through the overflow of melted snow on the road. I came across a puddle that was covering cracked pavement, reflecting the crimson, luminescent lighting of a battered auto-repair shop. Through this straightforward reflection on the ground, I saw a compelling and ornate image. When detached from its surroundings, this vivid red reflection embodied a celestial and mystifying form.
Whether it was a late-night walk near a repair shop, a Halloween party, or even just a dip in the pool; I began to discover how things do not always need to be displayed how they are basically seen, but rather by their more intricate details. Instead of focusing on images as a whole, I focused on color, texture, shape, and the minimal components. I used these characteristics to carefully organize and layout my work to form a synergetic display. Moonlight Glimmer attempts to show the juxtaposition of ordinary things removed from their original context creating an unconventionally unique visual. The exhibition portrays a variety of images specifically sized and aligned to form a sensuous and distinct environment.
